A structuring project for collective intelligence at the service of the museum network
In an effort to strengthen public knowledge at the provincial level, the Société des musées du Québec (SMQ) mandated Synapse C to support its members in improving their data collection and analysis practices. This project is part of a data pooling approach, making it possible to create a consolidated and evolving portrait of museum attendance.
Strategic data pooling
In collaboration with the QMS, Synapse C worked with a representative cohort of member museums to implement harmonized data collection practices. The objective was twofold: to improve the quality and coverage of the data collected, while respecting the capacities and tools already in place in the participating institutions.
The data thus pooled made it possible to feed a common analytical model, designed to meet the concrete need of museums: to know the origin of their audiences.
An interactive dashboard for everyone
- For the SMQ, it provides an overview of museum attendance at the network level.
- For each museum, it makes it possible to compare its results with those of the group and to identify levers for action.
One more step towards a culture of shared data
Thanks to this project, the SMQ and its members now have a structuring tool to build collective intelligence based on concrete, reliable and comparable data. This pooling work carried out by Synapse C strengthens the museum network’s ability to make informed decisions and promote the entire sector.
