Synapse C announces the addition of four new members to its Board of Directors

Montreal, June 18, 2024 – Synapse C, a leader in innovation, valorization and transformation of cultural data, is pleased to welcome four new members to its Board of Directors. Renaud Legoux joined the Board last February, and the Board welcomed three new members at its Annual General Meeting on June 14th. These appointments are designed to strengthen the organization’s reach by associating it with decision-makers and professionals from the academic, scientific and cultural worlds.

The new members of the Board of Directors are :

  • Renaud Legoux
  • Geneviève Béliveau-Paquin
  • Yves Théoret
  • Jean-François Gauvin

 

Renaud Legoux

Renaud Legoux is a full professor in the Marketing Department at HEC Montréal. He holds a PhD in Management from McGill University. Before embarking on an academic career, he worked as a manager in the cultural field. A specialist in database analysis and the marketing of cultural organizations, he has contributed to the publication of research on the marketing of the arts and cultural industries. He has been an advisor to Synapse C since its inception.

Geneviève Béliveau-Paquin

Geneviève Béliveau-Paquin has been Director of the Observatoire de la culture et des communications at the Institut de la statistique du Québec since March 2021. She conducts a number of statistical studies and surveys, notably on cultural attendance in Quebec and the cultural practices of the population. Prior to this, she worked for 15 years as Research, Development and Planning Manager at the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec. A graduate in film studies from Université de Montréal, she also holds a graduate degree in Leisure, Culture and Tourism from UQTR, training in the short program in management of public organizations from ENAP, and doctoral studies in Urban Studies from INRS-Urbanisation, culture et société.

Jean-François Gauvin

Jean-François Gauvin is Senior Director, Experience and Transformation at Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), where he has held a number of positions in information technology since 2003. A graduate in library and information science from the Université de Montréal, he also holds a graduate diploma in digital governance from the École nationale d’administration publique. He has previously worked for a number of organizations and institutions linked to culture and knowledge, including the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie, Les Presses de l’Université de Montréal, the Union des écrivaines et écrivains québécois and the Institut des Communications graphiques du Québec.

Yves Théoret

Yves Théoret is Deputy Director General of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. He has held senior positions at the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the National Gallery of Canada and the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art in Toronto. Yves holds a Master’s degree in Arts Administration from Columbia University (NY), a Master’s degree in Museology and a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from the Université de Montréal. He sits on the boards of the Fondation Arte (Arte Musica) and the Cinéma du Musée.

We would also like to thank Guillaume Therrien, who has been on the Synapse C board since June 2020 and is finishing his term with flying colors. Guillaume has been an important member of our organization’s growth and development, drawing on his qualities as an entrepreneur, strategist and advisor committed to the organization’s mission.
